Extra Stuff

Been thinking more about how these guys change and their history so I wanted to share my thoughts with all of you guys.  Everything below here is just a little fictional idea, but please, enjoy!

Background

Fairytails are magical critters whose appearance changes based on perception.  They take on the form of whatever myths and legends spring up about them.  They can range from serene and graceful to monstrous in appearance and behavior. The fairytails above have not yet begun to deviate from their initial form yet so how they mature is up to you! You can learn more about them here:

Fairytail Species Info

History

Prior to the 1500s, fairytails were much more common.  They lived both alongside people and on the edges of civilization.  Domestic fairytails were prized for their ability to become anything people needed.  Some were loved as simple pets while others were thought of, and thus became, strong working animals.  Some would eventually be used for war.

The fairytails that remained wild would morph into the stuff of legends.  Fueled by people's imaginations, they became fantastic beasts. Griffins, dragons, unicorns, sea monsters, anything people could fathom, the fairytails would become.  Today, we're left with many sketches and drawings from the middle ages depicting these creatures.  With fairytails being exceptionally rare now, we think of those early renditions as mere fantasy.  But it turns out they're actually accurate drawings of a creature we just don't understand anymore.

Little is known about the downfall of fairytails.  We know that one day, they were working alongside people and the next they weren't.  The subject is exceptionally difficult to look into as researches often seem to lose their train of thought when fairytails are being discussed.  Writing down details in short bursts seems to be the only way to make any progress before people mysteriously forget what they've learned.

More to come!

What's this mean for you?

Hopefully this info can help you with ideas for your adult fairytails.  Initially I was going to limit them with rarity or something but you know what, if you can think it up, you should go for it!! I just wanna see what you guys do.  Only parameters are to keep the same features on both the small and full grown fairytails.  Don't add horns and spikes on the adult one if the baby ones don't have it.

The drawings above depict a dragon-like fairytail, a griffin-like one, and one that isn't really based on anything but is built for war.  Take some ideas from these and make your own! SHOW ME TOO I love to see
